Design Philosophy

There is a growing awareness of the value of design, not just to uplift and make our lives richer, but also as a way to help reflect and even shape our attitudes, values and behaviour. Well-designed social housing can help to create better communities. Carefully articulated offices do improve staff communications and eventually productivity.

We focus on producing the best response to the brief, but we are also conscious that we have to provide value for money. Part of this is explained by the fact that as a practice we are properly resourced with a keen balance between conceptual thinking and plenty of technical experience. We actively manage effective partnerships with clients, planning authorities, developers and contractors, both here and abroad.

We are experienced in delivering projects from concept to completion, and recognise and encourage the teamwork necessary to achieve this on time, and on budget.

We don't waste time and we don't take on more than we can manage. We have systems that ensure there is a modulated flow of project stages through the office, from first contact through to handover.

We listen hard; we discuss; we edge towards a shared and finely detailed understanding of the brief. We enter into a process of mutual learning.
