Naish Waddington Interiors |
Environmentally Aware“About 40% of the total energy consumption in Europe is used in Buildings” Architecture and construction have a role to play in controlling climate change; and Naish Waddington's commitment to good design extends to embracing low-energy, sustainable buildings that are environmentally responsible and financially viable. In our own offices we rely on thick granite walls and fan assisted natural ventilation to maintain an equable internal environment. Daylight is improved by a small internal atrium and roof lights. Sometimes simple, low-tech solutions are more appropriate. Naish Waddington are exploring innovative ideas to help tackle global warming at minimal cost which include; masterplanning projects like East of Albert, where we investigated how Jersey's commercial port and St Helier can be more efficiently integrated; adding solar - powered ventilation to our small kiosk for Jersey Tourism; installing photovoltaic, electricity-generating, roof panels in Les Ecrehous; water-heating solar roof panels or geothermal heating for domestic housing; rainwater harvesting; utilizing low energy lighting and equipment. Naish Waddington's passion for Jersey's environmental protection continues, and we are enthusiastic about designing towards “carbon-neutral” developments (creating no energy deficit from the power grid). The future depends on it. |
